Wow, this is really interesting! Wearing a saree does take time, and people often struggle to drape it properly. Now, if this saree can be worn in just 15 seconds, it could be a huge benefit for any woman. And the fact that it has pockets is such a smart idea, as there’s often a lack of space in traditional sarees.
The name of this startup is “Aseem Shakti,” which launched a saree that can be worn in just 15 seconds through their brand “Aseem.” It was started by Swati, a resident of Mumbai, who, upon arriving on the set, first wore the saree in 15 seconds and then took out a phone, wallet, pepper spray, lipstick, notepad, pen, comb, and kajal from its pockets. Seeing all this, the sharks were amazed at how so many items could fit into a saree with pockets.
Now, Women are earning between 20,000 to 40,000.
Swati has provided jobs to many women through her startup. As a result, these women are now able to support their families and live better lives. Some are even able to provide quality education to their children, while others have sent their kids abroad. These women now earn between 20,000 to 40,000 rupees each month, which has made them financially independent. Swati even invited 8 women from her team to the set, who first did a catwalk and then took out a rose from their saree pockets to present it to the judges sitting there.
After facing several challenges, she started her career as a teacher.
After overcoming several challenges, Swati began her career as a teacher. She got the opportunity to teach spoken English to underprivileged youth. For 2-3 years, she taught English in various schools and NGOs. At one point, she wanted to pursue UPSC studies, so she started preparing for it and even stayed in Delhi for a while. During her UPSC preparation, she learned about self-help groups and understood how the government supports them.
Empowering women has improved their lives, making them self-reliant.
Swati thought about how she could help these women break free from their situation. It involved a lot of risk. One woman even got her ear burned. For some time, she gave them tasks like making rakhis and candles, but it didn’t help much. Then Swati asked these women what skills they had. They told her that they could cook and sew. Swati realized she couldn’t run a food business, so she decided to do something in the fashion industry.
She added pockets to the saree and created a trendy saree.
On January 18, 2018, Aseem Shakti was launched. Swati had seen a comment in a survey where people were demanding ready-to-wear sarees. Swati decided to create a ready-to-wear saree. While making the saree, she also thought that if kurtas and shirts can have pockets, why not a saree? So, she added pockets to the saree, which has now become very popular among people.
